I came across X wonder's blog and found out something which is really true about cheerleaders.
"While cheerleaders in teen movies seem to have the most exciting social lives on the planet, actual cheerleading squads often have to give up 25+ hours a week to practice . . . not to mention going to the actual games to do the cheerleading. It's a huge time commitment, so be 100% sure that you have the time to devote to it."25+ hours a week, that is more than 5 hours a day if you train 5 days a week. It seems that cheerleaders really have not much of "life" outside training. So if you are spending so much of your time in training, try making it happy times, else it is really not easy to continue on. Jiayou to all cheerleaders out there, I salute you all.Always keep in mind the reason why you cheer. Source: www.x-wonder.blogspot.com
Yes, indeed we devoted our time to it. The time we spent with the team is more that we can have for our family and friends. Even days when we doesn't have training, we would go to the gym for workouts.
Different people have different perspective of cheerleaders. Some people think that it is 'gay' for guys to participate in cheerleading. Some says guys join cheerleading just for the girls there.
However, I wish to correct all the wrong perspective mindsets they actually have in them. It is a tedious process of going through the trainings we have for improvements. Some says cheerleading its not a sports, but to us cheerleaders, we suffered more injuries than other sports activities regardless of positions we have in the team in terms of Bases, Flyers, Tumblers or even Spotters can get injured.
In fact I played competitive basketball for 10years and track and field in secondary school. Yes, I suffered injuries from those sports I did but I can't deny the fact that the major injuries I obtained are all from cheerleading, back, wrists shoulders and ankles injuries. People mocked at me being a cheerleader and my parents strongly disagreed that I should continue to cheer. I might only have less than a year of experience in cheerleading but the joy and tears we shared as a team pulls me closer to the passion of this sport.
No one is born to do anything. No one is born to be a cheerleader. It is all up to you to be who you want to be.
For now, its 5days to Cheerobics where cheerleaders from different backgrounds get together to compete and showcase what they have.
Dear Blazerians, We trained for almost a year, suffering all kinds of injuries and been through so much together is just for this 2 and a half minutes of show casing our routine. Lets sprint through this last lap together by giving our best. There is never a second try in this event, its either we go up or down. SO JIAYOU!MAKE OUR TEARS AND INJURIES WORTHWHILE! (:
